At Cullen Sea school we have three Mirror Dinghies and one Devon Yawl. We welcome you whether you are a complete beginner through to an experienced sailor looking to improve their skills and knowledge. We operate both within the Harbour and out in Cullen Bay through our Adventure Activities Licensing Authority License
Each Mirror Dinghy can be sailed by either one adult and one child, two children or a max of one adult. For bookings for two adults, we will provide two dinghies.
Lessons
Our lessons can be tailored to the individual to include both on and off the water activities, with theory to widen your learning and knowledge.
Initially you will learn the parts of the boat, rigging, manoeuvring using all points of sail, how to control the Craft and the effective use of the sails to alter the direction of the craft by maximising the wind available in the harbour in the sea school’s Mirror Dinghy. More advanced lessons will be carried out in Cullen Bay in the sea school’s Devon Yawl.
Theory can be tailored to the requirements of the individual; we are affiliated to the RYA and can give an appreciation of the RYA Syllabus or if you wish we can further your skills up to the qualification standards at a recognised RYA Centre.
Please arrive (and park if required) at Cullen Sea School 15 minutes in advance of your session start time (30 minutes if hiring a wetsuit). You will be fitted with a buoyancy aid and as a group, everyone on the session will be escorted round to the harbour for the session.
All water sports are subject to availability, tides and weather conditions and all participants will need to sign a consent form before the session starts as part of the booking process.

What to wear
Sessions in Cullen Harbour using a Mirror Dinghy – there is a chance of getting wet so either a wetsuit or leggings or cycle trousers and a thermal and a thin jacket to keep the wind off. No denims or good clothes or ugg boots. Water shoes or boots advisable.
Sessions in Cullen bay using the Devon Yawl: warm clothes wellies or water shoes. Water proofs no denim.
If you do not have access to a wetsuit, you can hire a wetsuit from us (subject to availability) at £5 per wetsuit for the session.
Accessibility
The sea school building is fully accessible with a flat yard with paving slabs leading to a wheelchair accessible front door. There is a wheelchair accessible lift to and stairs to get to the first floor toilets and changing rooms. There is ladies, gents and disabled access changing room and toilets. The disabled changing room has hand rails and is a wet room.
Watersports sessions start/finish and take place in the harbour. The beach is accessed via the slipway slope (not steps).

Booking Information & Cancellation Policy
If we have to cancel your session due to inclement weather or sea conditions, we will either re-book you onto another session or provide you with a full refund.
If you need to cancel your booked session with us please contact us with as much notice as possible on enquiries@cullenseaschool.co.uk or by calling 01542 840830 during office hours.
Please have your order details at hand including order number.
We will cancel your booking and subject to availability do our best to re-book you onto another session subject to availability.
Please note that sessions are non-refundable unless we can re-sell your tickets. If we can re-sell your tickets, we will refund you the full amount minus the payment processing fee to issue the refund.
